Search engine optimization seems to be gaining in popularity lately and why not? After all over 60% of the visitors that come to most sites are delivered by Google.
The only problem with SEO is that if you try to be too “by the book” you could easily end up committing large amounts of time to stuffing your keywords into your posts.
If you’re going to build an audience that you hope to become loyal readers and customers down the line, the last thing you want to do is alienate them by stuffing your posts with keywords.
Blogging is a great way to kind of let your hair down and be yourself while educating and entertaining your audience at the same time.
But let’s take this example for a second…
You’ve done some keyword research and found “affiliate sites money making” with over 1,200 searches per month and 350 websites competing. Wow sounds like a good money keyword right?
Here’s what some people will do with that ridiculous keyword, they’ll insert it into their posts at least two or three times and I don’t know about you, but how many sentences can you put together that will make sense with that keyword?
Do you think it might be a little obvious to your readers that you’re writing to get traffic rather than to educate, motivate or instruct?
Of course, so your best bet is to write for your readers first and the search engines second, because after all…
Search engines don’t buy stuff… people do.
