Finding Good Affiliate Programs That Are Worth Your Time

Finding a good affiliate program can mean the difference between making consistent income online and a few bucks here and there. The problem is knowing what to look for.

There are only two major concerns when it comes to making a living online and those two concerns are:

Time

Money

Regardless of whether you choose to use free or paid methods to advertise online, you will have to invest time. So you’re best bet is to find affiliate programs that offer good commissions and have a solid reputation.

Depending on what your advertising budget will allow will determine what methods of traffic generation you can use to generate income at a reasonably fast pace.

Of the most profitable affiliate programs to promote, memberships that offer constantly updated content or specialized tools are the best to get involved with.

An example of a membership site that provides constantly updated content can be a private label membership site or coaching program.

If you can find programs like these that are getting positive reviews, then you’re time will be better spent promoting for a recurring $29 commission versus a  one time hit for $20.

I’m not saying that you shouldn’t promote ebook, video or audio products, but to rely on creating a consistent income by promoting these types of products alone can cause your monthly income to fluctuate wildly as some months will be better than others.

An example of a membership site that provides a specialized service or tool can be hosting  and autoresponder programs.

If you’re going to build a website you’ll need a hosting program in order to get it live on the internet. In order to build a solid reliable monthly income it’s essential to be able to build a list of subscribers that you can develop a relationship with and communicate with regularly so having an autoresponder is a definite necessity.

Think about it, once someone sets up their hosting and autoresponder, the likelihood of jumping around from one host to another is very small because it’s a major pain in the backside to move from one hosting company to another.

It’s the same for switching autoresponder services, especially when some autoresponder services don’t allow you to import your existing list into their program.

So the likelihood of developing a consistent monthly income from promoting sites of this nature is much higher than trying to sell thousands of copies of an ebook every month.

Let’s look at some simple numbers to get a better view of what we’re talking about here.

If you promote membership site A that requires a monthly investment of $29 and you get 100 people to join, you’re monthly income will be $29oo.oo a month or if just 50 people joined your monthly income would be $1450 a month.

Now how many ebooks would you have to sell every month to achieve the same income? Well first of all in order to get a $29 commission from an ebook you would have to be getting at least 65% commission on a $47 ebook.

Then you would have to sell 50 – 100 copies of that same ebook every month. Now I know there are some hot products out there but unless you’ve got a gigantic list filled with hundreds of thousands of subscribers in your sales funnel, selling that many copies consistently on a monthly basis is highly improbable.

So which makes more sense to you? Work twice as hard to make a single commission or work half as much to make a steady income?

The choice is obvious and in future posts we’ll talk about how to find these monthly membership affiliate programs.
