When I first got started with affiliate marketing I bought into one of those co0kie cutter sites that basically had everything set up for you and all you had to do was drive traffic. I was so naive…
That was the extent of my affiliate marketing expertise at the time and to be quite honest, I really didn’t know anything else about it.
So I followed the instructions for driving traffic and day in and day out for about six months I stayed with it but I didn’t see one red cent for my efforts.
Discouraged? A little, but almost two years later I’m able to pull in a couple thousand dollars a month. What happened? What did I learn?
Well for one when it comes to promoting affiliate products you have to do one of two things.
1. You can set up a minisite around the product itself and drive targeted traffic to it and let me not forget to mention that you want to make sure the product sells, so check the Clickbank stats as well as Cbengine and Cbtrends.
2. Create your own product to offer as a bonus to give your visitors an incentive to buy from you.
It wasn’t until I started to employ these tactics, that I was actually able to sell something. First I started out with the minisite concept (which I still use by the way, but with a twist) and then I decided to start creating my own incentives to influence visitors to buy from me.
So why am I writing this? Because in case you haven’t noticed…
For every well known marketer who tells you that you don’t need your own product or website to make money with affiliate marketing, each of them has their own product and website. How ironic huh?
Internet marketing is more what I call “pay attention marketing” because if you really want to see anywhere near the kind of success some of the better known marketers are experiencing, you need to learn how to reverse engineer what they’re doing and tailor that to your marketing.
Anyway I have a lot more to say about that, that’s why I decided to write a special report about it. You can find that here
