Recommending Affiliate Products – Buyer Beware!

A very simple affiliate marketing strategy you can use to make some good money promoting affiliate products is product reviews. Basically you’re recommending affiliate products to your target audience, but there are couple things you might want to keep in mind.

In order for your recommendations to hold any weight you need to establish yourself as a credible source in the first place.

The best way to do this is to actually use the products that you’re recommending. There are lots of affiliates employing this method of marketing by putting up affiliate review sites all over the place, but if you’re credibility is suspect than sales will be minimal.

When you actually use the product you’re able to write from a perspective that signifies to your audience that you’re telling the truth based on your experience. So you’re probably thinking: “how will they know anyway?”

Well let’s put ourselves in the customers’ shoes for a second and say that we purchased an affiliate product based on a recommendation from an affiliate review site.

Once we have downloaded our newly purchased product and taken some time to go through it a little bit, if the product doesn’t measure up in any way to the recommendation that led us to buy it… we are getting a refund.

What about that site that made the recommendation, well we won’t be going back their anymore because we’ll be thinking that the person who is running that site is a scammer. And not only that…

But we’ll start to associate every other affiliate review site as untrustworthy and that’s just us. What about the hundreds of thousands of other sites that choose to do business this way?

So if you’re going to start recommending products make sure you add value to your credibility by owning the product first.

An easy way to do this is create a brief video walking your potential customers through the product without giving away the contents. This will at least let them see that you actually own the product as they watch you scroll down the download page.

You can use simple screen capture software like Jing to create your videos quick and easy and then upload them to Youtube or embed them on your website or blog.

If you do it this way you’ll make a whole lot more money and even build a following of people who will look to you for your recommendations concerning future product releases and purchasing decisions.
