Why You Should Pay Close Attention To Salescopy

pay attentionThere’s a whole heap of information products on the market and if you’re not careful…

You just might end up buying something you already have. Sales copy can often be misleading even if it’s unintentional. Here’s a simple exercise you can do if you’re strong enough to resist the urge to buy.

Go to clickbank and pick your category of interest, then take a little time and read a couple of the sales letters for similar products. So if you’re in the weight loss niche, look at a couple of sales letters for two similar products.

Look over the bullet points for each letter and see if they:

A. cleverly rephrase something you already know

B. say the same thing the other sales letter says

If you can do this without giving in to the desire to buy you’ll find out that the material is more than likely the same.

So how do people get caught up in buying information they either already know or have?

1. The surrounding story

2. Graphics

Let’s face it, after all I’ve been a customer many times and some of the graphics that you come across are so distracting that it almost doesn’t matter what the sales letter says.

The problem with that is once you pay for the product, all the lights go out and it’s just you and the information. That’s when buyers remorse begins to set in and that’s when you start looking for a refund.

Then there’s the surrounding story and some of them are really good at getting you to drop your guard long enough to convince you to ‘give it a shot’.

O.k. so now it sounds like I’m bashing sales letters, but how are you going to sell your product if you don’t have one? You can’t, so the point I’m making especially for intermediate marketers who find themselves chasing after the next best thing is to stop and look carefully at the product you’re considering because chances are you already know the information and will end up screaming scam in a forum somewhere and looking for a refund.

Now on a more positive note, paying close attention to sales copy will help you to distinguish good copy from garbage and help you to become effective at writing sales copy for your own products or ad copy for affiliate promotions.

Well I hope that made some kind of sense and helps you with your internet business.
